FAQ

What is DHA and is it safe?

Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) has been tested, and approved by FDA. DHA is a type of sugar, that when applied to the skin, causes a natural chemical reaction with your amino acids to produce a tan without exposing you to the harmful UV radiation of the sun. The process does not cause an increased production of melanin; therefore it is not comparable to a tan from sun exposure. Don’t be misled that you will receive the exact same result from an airbrush as you would UV sun exposure. You will, however, receive a tan that is both beautiful and good for your skin.

What should I do before a spray tan?

* Exfoliate at least 24 hours before the spray tan

* Wax or shave at least 24 hours before the spray tan

* Do not moisturize before your spray tan

* Do not wear make up or jewelery

What should I wear?

Attire for women is whatever you are comfortable wearing. Many things can be done to minimize tan lines. The key is your comfort level. Your tanning specialist will use the utmost discretion. Loose fitting clothing should be worn for leaving the facility. We have found that DHA reacts with wool, nylon, and silk. These fabrics should not be worn during or immediately following your tanning session.

What “color” will the tan make my skin?

We use products that are designed to work uniquely on every skin tone. The dual active ingredients react with your amino acids to produce a tan that is true to your skin tone. Our technicians can control the depth of the tan by layering the solution on your skin.

How long will the spray tan take to develop?

A minimum of 6 hours, if tanned in the evening it is best to leave on over-night.

What should I do after my tan has been applied?

The tan will develop within the first 4-6 hours. For the best possible results, you should avoid the following within the first 12 hours after application:

*Water
*Saunas/Spas
*Physical Exercise/Sweating
*Swimming
*Tight Fitting Clothing

How long will my tan last?

Most people can expect their tan to last for up to 5 to 7 days depending upon your skin type, preparation, and aftercare. Spray tanning regularly will help you keep your tan for up to 10 days. Moisturizing will greatly extend the tan’s life.
